Case History: Petroleum Storage Tanks (PSTs) Cleanup
From a letter mailed to Verde home offices August 1999:
Gentlemen:
I would like to take a few moments and tell you how much the MicroBlaze [sic] Emergency Liquid Spill Control has helped us in our work of abandonment in-place of underground storage tanks.
As you know, we specialize in this type of permanent closures of USTs. Our proprietary material has been accepted by the Texas Natural Resource Conversation Commission and the EPA.
The regulations require that tanks must be clean and free of explosive vapors prior to introduction of the solid inert substance that fills the tank. This caused a problem until we started using the MicroBlaze product.
After the tank has been emptied of any remaining fuel, we use a high pressure wash with a 6% solution of MicroBlaze. We let the wash water stand for several minutes before removing it with the vacuum truck. At that time the tank is not only clean, but free of explosive vapors. On our explosion meter the tanks are always below explosive levels, and most of the time are at "0".[emphasis ours - Verde.]
We are very pleased with MicroBlaze and often recommend it to other contractors and vacuum truck operators.
