Micro-Blaze Out Plus® Frequently Asked Questions
What is the makeup
of Micro-Blaze Out Plus®? Micro-Blaze Out Plus® is a combination of surfactants, microbes and foaming agents. Are there any
fluorosurfactants in Micro-Blaze Out Plus®? Yes. Micro-Blaze Out Plus® is a true AFFF that is U/L – 162 listed for hydrocarbon firefighting. However, its unique, patented formulation minimizes environmental concerns by biodegrading the hydrocarbon and other organic wastes, as well as the surfactants. Do the microbes put out
the fire? No. the fire is extinguished the same way other firefighting foams work. After the fire is out, the microbes contained in the solution begin to degrade the hydrocarbons as well as the Micro-Blaze Out Plus®. Laboratory testing shows total degradation time is 14 days. How long does the Micro-Blaze Out
Plus®
foam blanket last? The duration of the foam blanket is determined by the nozzle used. A standard fog nozzle, which aspirates the foam approximately 3 – 3.5 to 1 will drain fairly quickly. When applied through an aspirating nozzle, the drain time will be in excess of 6-7 minutes. Check out the results from the fire foam test that Chevron did Spring 2001. Is your product an emulsifier? No. The microbes in Micro-Blaze Out Plus® will begin to degrade the hydrocarbons. The byproducts of this degradation is CO2, water and trace inorganic salts. [See our Bioremediation page.] With emulsifiers, the product is still there but it is “encapsulated”. Ignition can happen and will happen. Does the product require any
special equipment to apply? No. The concentrate can be educted through any type of eductor. When proportioned from foam apparatus either through eductors or foam pumps, the concentrate reacts and works the same as other types of foam concentrates. Are there any particular foam nozzles
required? No. Micro-Blaze Out Plus® works well with any standard fog, straight stream or aspirating foam nozzles. What is required to clean
equipment after applying Micro-Blaze® products? Run water through the equipment to ensure it is clean and ready for the next operation. No special procedure is required. What
happens to my wastewater treatment facility?
Will your “bugs” eat my bugs”? No. In fact, Micro-Blaze Out Plus® will enhance your
WWTF [waste water treatment facility].
Our “bugs” will help maintain your facilities’ ability to
clean up the material being sent to your treatment plant. What
are the hazards concerning the handling of
Micro-Blaze Out Plus®? The ingredients in Micro-Blaze Out Plus® are not harmful to personnel in typical handling operations. If Micro-Blaze Out Plus® splashes on the body, simply wash off with water and soap. See the MSDS [Material Safety Data Sheet] for detailed handling instructions. |
