Case History:  West Texas Tire Fire

Fall 1998, Stamford, TX:

Scene:  Thirty acre fire of ground up, recycled tires in rows 40’ high, 40’ across and 30 yards long with 40’ between rows, with rows running lengthwise of the acreage 2 deep.

Rows caught on fire – winds carried fire from one row to the next.

Local fire depts. had already pumped one million gallons of water with 300 gallons of Forestry Class A foam…. Had also used 100 gallons of AFFF…..Fire was not being contained after 19 hours of burning.

Verde Environmental rep Don Board was called in and brought 55 gallons of Micro-Blaze Out®. He hooked up to truck’s in-line eductor setup, using Micro-Blaze Out at ˝%. Upon application onto the burning  piles, fires were contained and did not advance any further. Two entire end-piles had been completely extinguished when Don ran out of Micro-Blaze Out®.
