Spill Response and Bioremediation: How Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control Is Used in the Field

Effective spill response requires more than containment and removal. Environmental professionals are increasingly expected to implement solutions that reduce risk quickly while supporting long-term remediation and regulatory compliance.

Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control is a bioremediation agent designed to address organic contamination, particularly petroleum hydrocarbons, through a biologically driven process. Used globally for decades, it supports both immediate spill response and in-situ remediation when applied correctly.

What Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control Is Designed to Remediate

Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control is formulated to remediate liquid organic waste, including gasoline, diesel, crude oil, hydraulic fluids, and other petroleum hydrocarbons. The product combines naturally occurring microbes with nutrients and a surfactant component to accelerate hydrocarbon breakdown and microbial attachment.

Upon application, the surfactant reduces surface tension, dispersing hydrocarbons into smaller particles and reducing volatility. This initial action helps create a safer work environment. Once dispersed, the microbes attach to the hydrocarbons and begin the bioremediation process, converting them into simpler compounds over time.

This dual-function approach allows Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control to serve as both an active response tool and a long-term remediation strategy.

Selecting the Appropriate Micro-Blaze® Product

Proper product selection depends on site conditions and regulatory considerations.

Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control is most commonly used for soil contamination, surface spills, concrete and asphalt treatment, and self-contained bodies of water where surfactants are permitted. It provides rapid vapor reduction and accelerates biodegradation.

In environments where surfactants are restricted—such as groundwater, flowing water, or sensitive aquatic systems—Micro-Blaze® Non-Formulated is used instead. It contains the same microbial strains without surfactants or added nutrients, allowing bioremediation to proceed in regulatory-sensitive applications.

Where residual staining remains after hydrocarbons have been remediated, Micro-Blaze® Concrete Stain Remover may be used to improve appearance, with the understanding that cosmetic improvement occurs gradually.

Spill Response as a Process, Not a Single Step

Bioremediation is not an instant solution. Successful outcomes depend on selecting the correct product, applying it appropriately, and allowing sufficient time for biological processes to occur. When used as part of a comprehensive spill response plan, Micro-Blaze® Emergency Liquid Spill Control helps environmental professionals address immediate hazards while supporting long-term cleanup objectives.
